It is with great sympathy that we share the news that esteemed Dreyfus Foundation Director Emeritus John I. Brauman passed away on August 23rd. Dr. Brauman first joined the Foundation in 1988 and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2006. He became Director Emeritus in 2017. Among his many honors, he received the National Medal of Science. As his obituary notes, his “research on chemical structure and reactivity changed the way people think about chemistry, clarifying how solvents affect chemical stability and reactivity.” John Brauman will be missed.
