Richard N. Zare’s term on the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation Board of Directors ended in April 2023. Dr. Zare joined the Foundation as an Advisor in February 2007. In April 2010, he was elected to the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Dr. Zare is the Marguerite Blake Wilbur Professor in Natural Science at Stanford University. He is renowned for his research in laser chemistry, resulting in a greater understanding of chemical reactions at the molecular level. He has received 13 honorary degrees and numerous awards, such as the National Medal of Science, the Wolf Prize in Chemistry, and the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring. Recently, he received the Benjamin Franklin Medal in Chemistry from the Franklin Institute. Dr. Zare has authored and co-authored over 1,100 publications and more than 50 patents and published four books.
